Chepe's Tamales - El Paso

I have to say it—everything is spotless! The food is fantastic!

Tucked away behind an oddly-shaped Pizza Hut, you'll discover Chepes. Just a heads up—if you're driving too fast, you might miss it! The food here really puts me in a relaxed mood; perfect for taking a little nap after a long day of… dealing with challenges. Seriously, who hasn't had to navigate life’s little hurdles? I hope you get to try this place and think, "Wow, that’s a fantastic burger!" My wife is a vegetarian, which means I end up eating vegetarian most of the time too. But I still love a good burger! I chose a made-up name for this review so she won't find out. By the way, they do have some vegetarian options!

Expensive! I paid nearly $28 for two large menudos and two canned drinks. At first glance, the portion seems decent for the price, but it mostly consists of hominy, with only a small amount of meat on top, which wasn't very well cleaned. There was a lot of fat on it. The bread that came with the meal didn't taste fresh; it seemed like it was at least a day old. The customer service was good when I ordered and picked up my food, but overall, the meal just isn’t worth it.

Beef flautas were excellent and their tamales are some of the best around! Chicken and green chile tamales were delicious and so were the pork and green chile...

Purchased tamales. They are crumbly and dry. Needed more lard. Taste was ok. Price is too high.
