California Pizza Kitchen At Bay Street

Sitting in the restaurant, write this review so I don't forget. What a disappointment and I didn't even have high expectations. We came here because the other pizza place nearby seems to shift or turn off, should have gone somewhere else. Price, this place is far too expensive for the amount and quality you get. Taste. The Spinat Artichoke-Dip was Bland. Not sure it should be a healthier version, but I had so much better. The Mexican Street Corn was fine, not sure how to cook corn, but they succeeded. I don't know what it was with Spicy Honey Bee Focaccia. On the one hand, it was not spicy, but when I was in everything I could say was no. I wanted to spit it out. The pizza wasn't the worst, but it wasn't the best. If we're honest, it's very hard to scare pizza. The cherry on this experience was to get the bill and see the fish taco I did not eat and I did not press on the bill as always, we had to ask to take it off. The only good in this place was the butter cake with Häagen-Dazs ice (Häagen-Dazs does not miss). I'd just come here for the cake, but I'd make him do it. This cake is the reason why this place has a star (if you could give zero). I will not talk about the staff because we only treated one person and the other tables seemed satisfied with their waiters. So basically, if you want to eat, there are 100% better places you can go. If you want buttercake, that's it.

I arrived in the middle of the day with barely any customers there, yet somehow i stood at the doorway for 15 minutes before one of their workers even acknowledged me. Then, once i was seated, the workers proceeded to ignore me for another 20 MINUTES. WHICH I FIND RIDICULOUS. I am beyond upset, once the workers came they were rude and arrogant. If I could give 0 stars I would. I will NOT be coming back ever. I blame the managers because they were grossly understaffed. There was 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. Terrible experience.

If you keep your expectations in check, you’re likely to enjoy your experience. The Italian chop salad is one of the standout options on the menu, and the avocado spring rolls make for a fantastic appetizer to pair with it. Just a heads up, it’s usually tough to get a table for parties of fewer than four.

We ordered Shirley Temples, our go-to drink, but they didn't taste anything like a Shirley Temple at all. For my meal, I opted for the crispy fish tacos, and I was quite disappointed. The fish was not cooked well, and the portion I received for $18 was far from satisfying. Although I was hesitant to raise the issue at first, I felt it was important to bring it to someone’s attention. I sincerely hope the management addresses this with the cook, as I didn’t feel I received good value for my money. On a positive note, the restaurant took the tacos off my bill, which demonstrates excellent customer service. Thank you for that!

Tldr: do not eat here. Stopped by for lunch and am sorry that I did. There was a 25 minute wait time before being seated at a table with crumbs on top of it. Had to specifically request them to clean the table. Drinks arrived 15 minutes later. The sangria is basically flavored water. In fact, I was on my way out the door and cancelling the entire order right when they brought out the water. Food arrived seconds later which was unfortunate. The pizza was severely lacking in flavor, no seasoning to speak of or sauce. This was disappointing because it was one of their specialities. No idea why they have such a high rating here when there's a much better pizza place in the same plaza especially considering the price. This was a waste of money. Any road, you live and you learn. Edit: owner reaching out on this review was a nice start and feedback left as requested. Review rating stands as is unfortunately since there is no fixing my experience here.
