Dolls House - Fife

After always enjoying meals at The Doll's House, we were intrigued by the offer of a reasonably priced set menu all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Despite the smart decor and pleasant waitress, the restaurant was unaware of the advertised set menu offer outside. Eventually, they agreed to honor the price as long as we didn't order anything expensive. However, with five dishes already sold out by 7:30, our choices were limited. The soups and my deer dish were decent, but my wife's ratatouille was disappointing, consisting of just three undercooked courgette slices and a few tomatoes in a watery sauce. We decided to skip desserts and were surprised with a bill of £72, as the manager had forgotten her promise of a discount. After appealing, we received a discount, but £58 was still too expensive for a mediocre dining experience. Overall, I would recommend avoiding this restaurant as there are plenty of other dining options in St Andrews.

Our visit to this restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The ambiance was warm, cozy, and inviting, and the food was excellent. Garry, our server, made us feel welcomed and well-cared for. His service was outstanding, and his recommendations were perfectly tailored to our preferences, making our meal a hit. Garry even created signature cocktails for us based on our vague preferences, and they were absolutely spot on. His positive attitude and charming smile, combined with the delicious food, made our visit a truly memorable one.

We have been occasional visitors to the Dolls House for a few years now. This time, we were celebrating my wife and daughter's birthdays together (although really for my wife as my daughter is just 11 and her official birthday was the next day). We admire the decor, which combines elements of William Morris and French design. For starters, we enjoyed the celeriac and truffle soup, which had just the right balance of celeriac flavor with a hint of spiciness that was perfect for the winter season. The tandoori sea bass was a unique and delicately flavored dish. The service was friendly and efficient, and the price was justified by the quality of the food. The espresso cocktail was also very enjoyable. We hope that this restaurant continues to thrive so we can keep coming back to enjoy it.
