Road Hole - Fife

We were staying in the hotel and had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Both meals were very good with friendly staff. Dinner menu is focussed towards meat eaters but we had lovely fish and vegetarian dishes. As it is fixed price for 2 courses at dinner then it does seem expensive for non meat eaters especially when adding in cost of side dishes. Food was lovely though and beautifully presented. Great views over the golf course and up to the buildings of St Andrews itself.

This restaurant is very pleasant, with a welcoming staff. We were unable to appreciate the view during our dinner, so we returned the next day to the bar for a coffee. We tried the rib-eye, which was prepared perfectly to our liking. The two glasses of wine we ordered were unfortunately too warm, but the sommelier kindly replaced them without any issues.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. There is definitely room for improvement considering the prices paid. The three-course meal we had was excellent, as was the service, except for one staff member. One waitress stood out for the wrong reasons. When we arrived with our elderly parents, she couldn't find our reservation and didn't apologize. Instead, she seemed annoyed and eventually found another staff member to locate it. The second staff member was lovely and quickly found our reservation, apologizing for the confusion. The female waitress then led us to our table, where my chair was awkwardly placed against a pillar. When I asked for the table to be moved, she said she would send someone over, but no one came. We ended up having to move the table ourselves, which was disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. The sides we ordered were also disappointing, especially the £4.50 tomato and basil salad that contained cheap tomatoes and lacked basil. Despite these issues, the meal was enjoyable overall, and the staff were friendly. I hope that these comments are taken into consideration for future visits, and I look forward to returning to see if improvements have been made.

This restaurant is massively overpriced for what you get and has a tendency to overlook the solo diner. Had to walk out after 20mins waiting to be served and saw the serving person take an order for a group who had come in much later. Maybe they thought the gratuity would be better. Not at all impressed and would not recommend.

Beautiful restaurant with views of the gold course and North Sea. Food and service were absolutely wonderful
