The Oakmont - Flagstaff

I've been to this place before. You walk through a rather dated Clubhouse to the back patio area. Since its and inside/outside (during season) place, there are bugs and flies all over the place. Some outside seating have metal chairs that are not comfortable, so in retrospect, I should have requested the fireside lounge area. I don't know the exact name. At any rate, the food is very good and above average for Flagstaff. Its a bit foodie, but its not Coco's. I found the bar to have very limited selection as well and thought it very odd that the server didn't know what Canadian Club was at all. Not a big deal but a bit weird for one of the most common whiskeys for a simple drink. That said, the bar had Blanton's and lots of other very good choices. I did order a drink on the rocks and saw on the bill, they added $4.00 for rocks. I understand that lots of bars now charge more because you might get an extra splash of liquor but I thought its very cheap on their part, especially since they also charge a $10.00 service fee which is like a separate tax and not part of the tip. Normally I don't complain about prices but I also just don't like feeling like I was low key swindled a bit.

Every year while on vacation in Flagstaff, we go to the Oakmont with friends. This will be the last time. The new menu is lacking in full meal choices. We each chose a different meal and all of us were completely disappointed. The description of what foods were included in the dish and what actually arrived were different. All of our hot meals arrived cold. We sent them back to be warmed and it took 45 minutes to get them. One of the dishes came back totally burnt and the vegetables were dried up. While waiting, we reordered our drinks but never got them. The waiter said they went to another table. We had also ordered an appetizer during their High Tea happy hour and a second round of the same appetizer after the $2 reduced price during the regular pricing time. We discovered that during their Happy hour time the appetizer size is reduced by half. The restaurant was remodeled but nothing was done to absorb noise. We could no longer hear what the person on the other side of the table was saying. Also new is an additional 8% service fee on top of the regular tax and tip.

One of my favorite patios to enjoy the pine trees and beautiful weather in Flagstaff kid and dog friendly, and the menu has a variety of options the pretzel is a great snack and the chicken sandwich was also tasty.. order the frozé if you want a fun frozen drink. Frankie, our server was cheerful and attentive. If you’re there in the evening the patio has couches with fire pits that overlook the golf course which adds to the experience.

Rian was awesome! Super cool guy and was super attentive!
