Chef Lagenda - FLEMINGTON

Been here twice recently and really enjoyed. The odd area for improvement but overall it's really good.Definitely be back next time I feel like Malaysian (even though it's a 30 min drive from home). Laksa is pretty good. I prefer rendang, which was excellent. Chicken curry also very good, still I prefer rendang. The chicken ribs are very good (the plain over salt and pepper ones personally).Staff overall very pleasant. The first waiter we had on second visit didn't have sufficient English to handle any alterations to ordering, minor as they may have been, for example 'can I please have a side of steamed vegetables, preferably mostly broccoli, regular broccoli over Chinese broccoli' and 'can I please have a dish of satay sauce'. So being able to go through that without confusion, being told no (despite having the same sorts of requests a few days prior with another waiter who had sufficient language skills to understand and having no problems) and then requesting a different waiter, that would be about my only suggestion for service improvement.Otherwise thumbs up. Services and environment was good. The laksa soup was good. However, tried the bbq pork was below average, steam chicken can be improve. The name "Lagenda" means legandary in Malay, it carries alot of weight so buckle up your standard or you could name " The Real Laksa King" perhaps?

Just returned from 3 weeks in Indonesia and Malaysia. First stop....Chef Lagenda. THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC . Very reasonably priced . The prices have not risen in the last year or so , but the serving sizes have DEFINITELY got smaller. Still great value though. Service is appalling , but strangely the food is so good the service just doesn't matter !!

Cheap and cheerful, casual kind of place. Food did not hit the mark for us compared with its neighbour of a similar ilk. The gado gado was especially disappointing - so very watery and the vegetables were too soft from overcooking. Other hawker style dishes were so-so. Won't be returning.

Moved from Melbourne to SEQ. Really miss this place.....so coming back to Melb next week for a holiday!! And this place will be on the dinner list. Great memories of great food and ambiance. And as for EFTPOS....so what. Cash is still legal tender. And Lisa P; they didn't pour your water, so sad.........It's about the food, not eftpos or water pouring....
