The Cliffe Restaurant @ The View Hotel

The food was only ok. The starter of fish cakes was enjoyable, tasty and hot , but the Moroccan vegetables was disappointingly tasteless except the overriding taste of balsamic vinegar.

I was surprised that I was phoned the day before and asked for a £10 deposit on our classic afternoon tea for two, which I booked online, however, we could not fault the food which was lovely and freshly made, especially the scones. Being offered a top up on the pot of tea would have been a lovely gesture too!

Really good service, not rushed, just right, waitress was polite, friendly and professional, the food was lovely and well presented, reasonable prices as well, would definitely return.

Food was nice but bar and restaurant service very poor. I was surprised not be offered anything to go with our pre dinner drinks not even a menu buy something from! I think that there were not enough staff, as a result some of the dishes were not very hot and the wine did not arrive on time. The glasses on the table were not cleared and so there was very little room. Attention to service detail and more staff would help.
