Malt Hops Angel - Forest of Dean

I was disappointed that we had to place our order by 8 and leave by 9, and then were moved to the bar. The food was good, but I was surprised to find myself back home shortly after 9.

The owner shouldn’t run the place ! He’s pissed up behind the bar swearing around children. We stayed in room 106 the room was boggin ! Carpet full of stains and covered with old scatty rugs. The shower either had hot or cold water. Now we went to the bar that the owner was working behind as no staff at the reception and told him that the water was either boiling or freezing he replied with (did you turn it on clearly I have and he then said well there is nothing I can do then …… you what mate ! I would even bother to be honest s**t show really

Firstly, the roast dinners were perfectly pleasant. What wasn’t pleasant was 2 of our party getting their dinners a good ten minutes before the rest of the table, then hearing the cook screaming at the waiting staff whilst we all sat in the dining room listening. No apology for the staggered service times. When I pointed out we were still waiting for one more dinner the cook shouted at me across the room. Then despite no one else being around we were ushered out of the dining room so they could tidy up ready for tomorrow (tomorrow is a Monday so to struggle to see how busy they expect to be, or why they didn’t want to continue getting drink money from a table of 16… . We weren’t asked if we wanted desserts and when we enquired about having some, (admittedly it was just gone 3pm we were told we couldn’t have them. Won’t be returning. Had we been a smaller group we would have voted with our feet earlier in proceedings but felt that we were unlikely to find anywhere else locally that could do such a large group on Father’s Day

Holidaying in the area battled road works outside but so glad we did! Had a warm welcome , good service, a great lunch the offer of water etc for our dog! Absolutely superb. Thank you

Locals hangout, well kept beer, and an excellent outdoor drinking dining area. Not much more you could ask for.
