Oxtail, curried goat, curried shrimp all mind blowing. Even the lemon yellow cake on the counter was the single best piece of cake I've ever had. The flavors here are big, savory, fresh, complex, and left us all wondering when we could come back and eat the rest of the menu. No fancy place with a table cloth or whatever has ever made me this happy. Island Spicez and its chef are a gem. So overjoyed we found this place and cant wait to come back.
Overpriced oxtail, $27 for large and $20 for small. This is at least $10 more than most Jamaican restaurants. The lady said the price of oxtail went up but this was 2 years ago and prices have since dropped so she is lying. You can get oxtail for $9 a pound at Fowler meat and fish market a couple mins down the road from there. I know this because i buy oxtail all the time to make. If i didnt drive 30 mins in traffic to get there i would have walked out when she told me the price. On top of that the food was not that great. I love supporting black owned businesses especially Jamaican ones since i am a Jamaican but not when they're ripping people off.
Was worried because ive been getting disappointed with other restaurants lately but this one absolutely impressed me. Huge portions and great taste. Had a large curry chicken enjoyed it. Only curious thing was string beans in the cabbage but besides that im a happy customer. If the food is like this consistently then this will be the only Jamaican restaurant I will go to.
Great food with very friendly service. If you happen to be in the Fort Myers area, this place is definitely worth the drive for authentic, home cooked Jamaican dishes. We had the curry and j chicken dishes. Both came with rice and peas, cabbage, and a few fried plantains the small size platters were more than enough! The restaurant owner, Diane, is a very friendly lady and clearly proud of her heritage and cooking skills. She was more than willing to share how she prepared each dish, so I might try to do the same at home. Next time I will try the roti with daal and the oxtail. Check this place out!
Over priced oxtail- 4partial oxtails, food was terrible tasted like it may have been leftovers. I am extremely disappointed . The worst carry out experience of my life. A total waste of $40 . The menu said $10.50 I was told the menu was wrong it’s $25 . I’m awaiting the manager to return my call .
