Best BBQ in Fort Worth. Also, the potato salad is awesome.
We used to LOVE coming here, and brought all our out-of-state guests here in the first few years after moving to Texas. we thought we'd have BBQ a beer and my husband suggested we come in. I remember why I'm okay not coming in for a romantic or fun meal anymore. my husband smokes his meats on par with the pit master here, and my potato salad and beans are better, so the food isn't the draw anymore. our meats were cut really thick, including our sausage, which we requested bite sized. had to pull out my sharp pocketknife out to cut through the casing, since plastic utensils couldn't cut it...literally. plastic at a sit-down dinner is kinda gross, especially at over $50 for two people. the heads are great but all the critters need a dusting, and the paneling is now depressing, rather than rustic. a fresh coat of paint would liven this place up enough to start bringing groups here but I can't imagine bringing anyone here as it is now. I know that it's not cheap to run a restaurant, but the cost for what we're seeing here doesn't mesh. we know the labor involved, but this isn't worth it anymore. sadly enough, we'll be eating most our BBQ at home now or down by the Trinity, where there's a killer food truck with a killer view. note: wheelchair parking, ramp door not handi-friendly. parking space right up against ash cans pit leave you choking as you get situated and don't leave much room to get in out of the car. no offer to assist.
I've been eating here since I was 9 years old. I am 59, and I live in Denver now, so I use their online service to buy and o Enright to my Texas relatives at the holidays every year...it is always fresh and delicious! Love this place so much!
I only give him three because it's a symbol in Fort Worth. Smells better than it is. Beans are no more than ranch-style beans you can in any grocery store. Green beans are probably skillful. Potato salad must ask yourself if it is bought. Turkey, where I was much better. Brisket right away. It's okay with food. On another note, you want a beer. They're frozen. It's a great place to meet friends and drink and laugh. I had many here. But the food is just fine and expensive for what it is.
