Shawn's Smokehouse Bbq - Fredericksburg

This a review from my last 2 visits to Shawn's about 4 months apart. I am just in the area temporarily so someone local recommended this place. For My first visit hereI would give them a 5. They had all the meats, everything was cooked very well, great atmosphere, good pricing. I had no complaints. Unfortunately the last time I went last week) they had limited types of meats and the brisket was salty. Another person in my group was very disappointed as well. May be part of the reason is the fact that the first time I went for lunch and the second it was for dinner ..... I'll give them another shot during lunch time.

The brisket was a bit too salty, but still decent. The jalapeño sausage was outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The salad was good and the Rachel dressing was also tasty. The mac and cheese was also delicious. I would recommend this place.

The portion sizes at this restaurant are great for the price. The smoke flavoring is excellent, and the restaurant is clean and spacious. They also offer outside seating. There are plenty of sauces to choose from, and the Mango Chipotle sauce was particularly delicious. I tried the burnt end sandwich and it was fantastic.

This restaurant has the best food we've ever had! We absolutely loved the burnt ends, and the cornbread was incredibly delicious. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was kind.

The food was no where near my expectations! Had my mouth set for some really good barbeque and was very disappointed!! The pork sandwich was dry even with the mounds of sauce I put on it. The sauce tasted like great value sauce from a jar nothing special about it. My side dishes(baked beans, Cole slaw and green beans)Had no down home flavor at all, beans were salty. Just felt let down and still hungry!
