Green Street Tavern - GALENA

This is a lively spot located in the oldest operating hotel in Galena. Although the service was a bit slow, it got quite busy while we were there. I really appreciated their generous pour of Guinness, and I enjoyed learning about the history of the place as well.

As for parking, the place is quite popular, so we had to drive around for a bit before finding a spot. After parking our car, we did some shopping before walking several blocks to reach the restaurant. After our meal, we made the trek back to the car, but we were grateful for the benches located on every block, which provided a convenient place to sit if needed.

This restaurant was a disappointment. The food was just okay. We had the chicken cordon bleu and the club sandwich. The sandwich was good but overpriced. The chicken tasted like something that was frozen and reheated. We were also charged an extra $5 each to substitute fries for a baked potato but nothing was communicated to us until the bill came. Overall, prices were too high for food that was so so $50 for 2 people).

Good food. Good location and service. Great lunch option when in town in the historic Desoto House Hotel.
