The Depot Pub - Gardiner

While waiting to get in to the Swine Stein fest, it was pouring so my date and I popped in here. I'm newly local, he's not, neither had been here. Grabbed a table and was immediately greeted by a server. Plenty of TVs for sports. Nice rustic atmosphere and tables large and small to accommodate your party size. We ordered drinks and apps and both were delicious. Never felt rushed to leave. Service was impeccable without being pushy. Bathroom was clean but only single use. So unless there's another one I'm not aware of, could pose a wait on a busy day/night. I'll be back for sure. Got a great vibe from this place and I'm interested to try more menu items. First time in this small town. Slim pick'ns when it comes to dinner. But, The Depot is a good spot. Definitely gives off local hangout vibes. A reviewer on another site said this place had the best chicken fingers. That's what I went with, and they served it's purpose. Lightly battered and cooked perfectly. It came with 4 or 5, which was more than enough. You can get them buffalo style, as well. I accompanied it with honey mustard. It comes with your choice of fries. I went with curly. Typical pub food. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was very attentive. Food was delivered by someone in the back. All in all, it was a good experience.

So this little sports pub doesn 't look like much from the outside and you may think it to be a dive bar. Let me tell you that The Depot is not that. It is a fun little sports pub that has fantastic food. We were so pleasantly surprised. We went on a Thursday and it was packed. The hostess saw us looking for a seat and jumped right in to help us find a table in the back. The atmosphere was lively and people were having a great time. The food smelled and looked great. There were specials on the board and they have every day specials as well. So we really wanted some pub food. We ordered fried pickles, a favorite of mine and they were some of the best that I have ever eaten. The breading was light , non greasy and seasoned well. I ordered a mix of blue cheese and ranch dressing and they happily supplied both so that I could make my own blanch . We shared a pepperoni pizza that was fresh dough with the chubby pepperonis. This was also not greasy even with the pepperoni. It had great sauce and light cheese which is my perfect combination pizza. Ok, we also ordered the boneless buffalo wings which were well seasoned, and spicy. We took a doggy bag home as that was a lot of food. It was all fantastic and to boot, they even had Orono brewing Tubular on draught. What a fantastic find and almost in our back yard, only 15 min away. We are so happy that we happened upon this place. We will definitely be back soon.

This is truly a favorite place of mine. I love the atmosphere and the staff. It's a feel of an old English pub with community support. The food is great. I truly love the wings and the choice of sauces. They are cooked perfect with the crunch we love. Their haddock chowder is wonderful. Their Rueben (my husbands fav) is terrific with their onion rings. Check out their specials. Their lobster rolls are a special and wicked good!

Nice little sports bar just off the main drag in Gardiner...busy night, but got the last seat at the bar. Service was quick and I grabbed one of their 36 beers on tap, many of which are local craft. Several things on the menu looked good, but I decided to go with a pizza, which was excellent. I'll definitely return on a future trip through town.
