Bistro Bar L'original - Gatineau

This restaurant is the perfect spot for lunch! They offer lunch specials that start with soup and end with delicious desserts and coffee.

I'm not sure when this restaurant was established but I have seen only a handful of reviews on this location.

A quick prawn patia delicously spicy and fragrant and a lamb malabar, orange and almondy and saucy.

We ate at L'Original last night on recommendation from our hotel and we were delighted with their choice. I don't know that we would have found this place on our own. It is on a side street and downstairs. It has a very cozy, intimate feel and they were playing great music but not too loud to disturb. The menu has a lot of different meats (venison, boar, bison). I started with the buffalo mozzarella salad with truffle vinaigrette and it was probably the best salad I have ever had. My husband had the beet salad which he loved. For the main course we had duck and beef sirloin, both were cooked to perfection with wonderful vegetables included. For dessert they had a special apple crumble with caramel sauce which was delicious. Finally, but most important we had a great server who was attentive and knowledgable. Highly recommended!

The grilled octupus and boar shank were excellent. A place one can return over and over again. the service was lacked but the overall experience was very good in spite of the service dealays whcih I attribute to lack of traiuning of the staff.
