Írjon visszajelzéstHad breakfast here twice while visiting Girdwood. Ate outside the first time, which was far more relaxing and scenic—inside can be quite loud and hot. The food was mostly great, I just was unlucky in my ordering. The vegetable omelet, while distinct from the separate menu item “Mushroom Scramble”, was packed to the gills with mushrooms (which I personally can’t stand . Thankfully my husband offered to switch his meat-filled omelet with me, which was tasty. The toast was great, and we really enjoyed the (homemade? blueberry jam. The next day, I ordered French toast, which apparently is made here in a heavily clove-spiced batter (I hate cloves , so I choked down some but mostly ate my side of eggs. The food is well made, I just wish they’d include a basic description of items so people know what they’re getting into. I swear I’m not a super picky eater, just happened to land on some of my most hated things, womp womp. Coffee is your typical diner coffee, so recommend an espresso-based drink if their machine is working (it was one day and not the other .
I had a fan-freaking-tasting Reuben sando here not long ago. It came out HOT and smothered in Thousand Island, and tasted so good on a cold, snowy day. The meat was juicy, fresh and very flavorful. I also ordered a side salad which was generously dressed. It paired excellently with the Reuben. I couldn’t walk out without trying their famous Sweet Roll. Nothing short of phenomenal. This bad boy is the perfect combo of buttery goodness, flakiness and sweet. The caramel is light, but a little went a long way. Definitely could taste the anise. Topped with a soft, lemony glaze (not very tangy) and sliced almonds, it’s no wonder this treat is so well known. 10/10 would drop in again.
We stopped for breakfast on our way to Seward and were pleasantly surprised by this charming, rustic spot. The atmosphere was friendly, although the indoor noise level was high due to the kitchen fans and radio—yet, that seemed to contribute to its charm. We ordered the Farmers Breakfast Omelette, which was delicious, although it resembled a folded frittata more than a traditional omelette. I also couldn't resist trying the Summer of 75 Special since I love sourdough (they even sell sourdough loaves). As it was my first time trying sourdough pancakes, I was eager to taste them, but unfortunately, they had an off flavor for me, and I couldn't finish my meal. Overall, though, we had a pleasant experience. The place was lively, and I can see why people enjoy dining here.
This is a fantastic place to grab a warm meal. They offer a wide variety of grilled cheese sandwiches. I ordered the pastrami and cheese, and they certainly don't skimp on the pastrami! The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted. They also have chilled bottled sodas and absolutely incredible cinnamon rolls. I sampled their northern bean soup, which was delicious too. I highly recommend stopping by for some tasty, quick bites!
I ordered the French toast and sourdough pancakes, and they were absolutely delicious. I'm definitely going back tomorrow for more!
