The Works - Gisborne

Great dinner venue with several GF dinner options. Food was amazing. I have a wonderful duck dish.

We 'd had a dissapointing experience the night before at another Gisborne restaurant and hoping for a better experience at The Works. They delivered in spades, with excellent service and relaxing surroundings, the building has a rich sense of history mixed with modern day convenience. We enjoyed cherry glazed duck legs for main, finished by black forest cake and warm rice pudding for desserts, topped off by an nice Aussie red (Angus The Bull Cab Sav). The Works is offers a professional dining experience with plenty of love going into the food, combined with warm friendly service, and a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed attentive service, a wonderful atmosphere in a beautiful historical building on the cool veranda after a hot summer day. I had the best marinated fish I ever tasted here, and all the other dishes were also super delicious. we returned to lunch on the following day and can only confirm that the works are consistently excellent, day and night. also great cocktails.

The staff is very friendly and eating is delicious. more importantly, it is dog friendly. we'll be back when we visit gisborne next time.
