Charred hint on the chicken, damn good crunchy salad, slightly sweet and tangy dressing was goes well together.<br/ Soft shell crab, served with some sort of papaya salad also nice.<br/ Smokey eggplant is my favorite!<br/ As a carb, we hit fried rice with crab meat, coriander, fried egg and lime dressing, mate... it was delicious!<br/ To wash down I ordered lychee beef unfortunately out stock, so I got the ginger beer instead.<br/ After all this we still have a little room left on our tummy, so we hit these 2 dessert to share:<br/ Vietnamese coffee cream brûlée, coffee was dominant yet flavour so smooth and subtle, with nice sugar burnt on top.... delicious!<br/ And sugar caramel banana with mango sorbet and taro chips reminds you about south east Asia, really good dessert!<br/
Tried all the Mama’s Buoi restaurants now and must must say, I’m a real fan! Just love dining at any of The Tramshed restaurants in general, and now that MB has been added to the list, I’m sure we will continue to visit regularly! So much choice for vegans too! Delightful decor which exudes happiness, colour and joy! Started with Hanoi style fried spring rolls (vegetarian and prawn), freshly rolled rice paper rolls (pork and prawn, tofu w avocado) and crispy coconut tiger prawns. For a main the homestyle chicken curry with lemongrass and vegetables was so nourishing and hearty with large chunks of chicken in a mild curry sauce! Also ordered two dishes of the 'bun ' traditional vermicelli noodle salad (w whole juicy tiger prawns and one w mushroom and tofu). So colourful, fresh and delicious! Just made another booking for a special birthday coming up! Can 't wait!
It was an unorganised let’s go out for dinner moment and we decided as we were walking around to try Mama’s Buoi out. We shared all the dishes and we thought they were good! We had the crispy soft shell crab, pork ribs and the Smokey eggplant dish (yum). The pork ribs didn’t look the way we thought it would but they tasted amazing, tender, juicy and full of flavour! The eggplant dish was lovely and same with the crispy soft shell crab. The service was ok. The waiter seemed unsure at times when we asked questions about the menu and when we asked for the dessert menu we were told the kitchen was closed without any warning it was closing other then this our overall experience good
We came here for dinner a few nights ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The service was excellent and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The manager even came out to make sure we well looked after and were enjoying everything. The food was amazing. After reading the menu we decided to with the share me banquet as it had most of the things we wanted to try and the price was reasonable. Every dish was great, especially the duck pancakes and Vietnamese coffee creme brûlée. They also make one of the best Vietnamese drip coffees that I have ever tried. I will definitely be coming back here again in the near future.
We visited the newly opened Mama's Buoi at the Tramsheds dining precinct. The Tramsheds were once the location of the Harold Park Harness Racing. This venue and the quality of its restaurants is in stark contrast to the sausage sandwiches, VB and Vodka Cruisers that were served up in it's past life. Tramsheds hosts a range of cafes and restaurants and we visited the new Mama's Buoi which has a cool modern set up, with an open kitchen and bar. There is plenty of colour splashed around the restaurant and some fluorescents which pop in contrast to the black steel beams and warehouse setting of the Tramsheds. The Mama's Buoi brand is known for serving consistent high quality Vietnamese cuisine. A menu inspired by the founder Bao Hoang’s mum, there are a range of foods to share amongst friends. The food director comes with a wealth of experience and has designed a high quality menu and they serve their Vietnamese food at five different locations. Having visited their Surry Hills, Crows Nest and now Tramsheds location, we can attest to the fabulous food they have on offer. The drinks list is also tops with Mama's Buoi always impressing with great cocktails. The frozen cocktails were on the cards, the innovative frozen kambucha was refreshing and was well suited to the food being served and great for warm days ahead. This visit involved a banquet menu allowing us to sample a range of items on the menu, which is the intention of the restaurant. The entrees were all very enticing with some popular Vietnamese bites including; duck pancakes, salt and pepper squid, roast pork belly and our favourite entree on the list being the crispy Coconut prawns coated with coconut strips for added texture and crunch. The mains included a the wok tossed seafood and Mama's beef stir fry, both having nicely balanced flavours. The home style chicken curry had delicate flavours and the chicken was ridiculously tender. The smokey eggplant was super tasty and is a good vegetarian option. The crab fried rice, something a little more special than your usual fried rice. For dessert we had the opportunity to try something amazing, with an old favourite: the creme brulee getting a Vietnamese twist. The Vietnamese coffee creme brûlée impressed all. diners. It was a great dessert, channelling the Vietnamese coffee which is always a favourite with the beautiful texture of the brûlée to pay homage to the French. It was another enjoyable visit to Mama's Buoi in a great new location. It features attentive service and food on par with the other Mama's Buoi restaurant's. Make sure you pop by, grab a bite to eat and enjoy one of their frozen cocktails.
