Zizzi had no knowledge of our booking with you but they accomodated us anyway
Booked a table for a catch up with my friend, arrived 5 minutes before our booking. Stood waiting for someone to show us to our table. Someone who I assume was front of house came over to us and just stared at us waiting for us to speak. I mentioned we had a table booked for two, but he just shook his head and said there was no booking. I showed him my confirmation from opentable. He looked around and then walked off assuming we should follow. So we did. We sat down right next to the kitchen and were left there. No one offered drinks. The lighting above was extremely bright and harsh. Felt like a canteen. Which is a shame because we’d just left Portivo lounge where the ambience was lovely and friendly. We got up and left. Terrible service. No apology for the booking confusion. Went back to Portivo and enjoyed the lovely ambience. Will not be returning to Zizzi. Get your act together Zizzi. You have a lot of competition in the area so you can’t assume people will return. You have lost two customers already.
When we arrived at Zizzi, their booking system was not functioning, and they had no record of our table reservation.
During our second visit to this restaurant chain, we were very pleased. It perfectly matched the enjoyable experience we had recently at the Chelmsford Zizzi. The location at Gloucester Quays is also excellent. This time, we tried some appetizers, and we were delighted to revisit the experience. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and highly efficient. We will definitely return to this restaurant whenever we're in the Gloucester Quays area.
