Bonefish Grill St. Simons Island

Depends. We always go with the one that follows after a day on the beach from our neighborhood. Great drinks, delicious seafood and a great atmosphere. We always take our guests here and they are always surprised to learn that Bonefish is part of a chain, even more surprised to find out that the chain is owned by Outback Steakhouse. People are freaking out about the Bang Bang Shrimp!

Good food and service. It's a chain so it's safe and predictable.

The food and service are generally good and reliable; it's great 9 times out of 10. However, during our visit last weekend, unfortunately, we experienced one of those rare off days. It wasn't terrible by any means, but it didn't match the usual quality we expect. My favorite dish is definitely the ahi sashimi tuna, but this time it was overcooked and lacked its typical fresh pink color. It just wasn't tasty. The fried oyster special was also disappointing—overly small and mushy instead of crispy. Additionally, the portions seemed smaller overall, forcing us to get several small take-out boxes. We still had a good time, especially with our large group, but I left feeling let down. I'll definitely give it another shot, though.

This is the best spot in the Golden Isles for crab cakes! They are boiled using a wood stove and contain no fillers! The swordfish texture was somewhat lacking, possibly due to being previously frozen. The pumpkin ravioli offered a delightful change from the usual fare. The bread is always served hot with a generous serving of pesto. However, the pumpkin crème brûlée didn’t have the sweetness one would typically expect from a fresh brûlée. The doughnuts were served hot but turned out to be quite doughy and dense. On a positive note, the service was excellent and very attentive.

The food is excellent, the service is great, and the portion sizes are reasonable for the price. Some may complain about it being a chain restaurant in a resort area, especially with other options being far away, but honestly, this place is as good as any on the island.
