My family harkens from Siracusa Sicily. There are an awful lot of restaurants that serve pasta with some sort of a red sauce, but aside from Saladino’s (now closed), Nonna’s is the first restaurant that I found in Coos County that is authentic and true to the Italian heritage. I ordered Escarole soup, and that soup at Nonna’s brought me back to my childhood. It had a great homemade chicken broth that was chock full of greens and tiny meatballs. Exquisite! I had the Mussels in a spicy red sauce, on linguine. There was a proverbial boatload of succulent mussels in a homemade chunky red sauce that was slightly spicy. The linguine was made fresh. The meal was outstanding! The portions were more than ample. The dining room actually felt like I was sitting in an Italian Nonna’s kitchen. The price was very reasonable for the freshly prepared top-notch food. And the waitress was terrific.
Rustic atmosphere with farm to table freshness.. The staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining some of our choices. The daily house specials were a big hit with everyone as well. You can't beat fresh pasta, fresh ingredients and a chef who has a passion for what he does. I would highly recommend Nonna's Kitchen to anyone who visits the area. What blew my mind was that when we were greeted I thought I recognized the hostess/owner, she had a familiar face. Once we left I was speaking to a friend and found out that they once owned one of my favorite dinners in Groveland MA.. Now I know why I enjoyed the food.. Great Job Mike Conley.....
We were just passing through town at dinner time and my daughter mentioned her craving for good Italian food. As if by magic a sign for Nonna's appeared in front of us. We decided to stop and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing. We tried the gnocchi, chicken saltimbocca, alfredo and the cod puttanesca. It's hard to pick a favorite. The service was wonderful too even though the place was full. Portions were large, we had lots leftover. It was an all around great experience. We highly recommend it.
I finally had the opportunity to have dinner at this gem of a restaurant and can't wait to return. The food, service, atmosphere and gracious owners all deserve a five star rating. A truly memorable experience!!!
They have very, very good food and a nice atmosphere. We went for my birthday and everything was delicious and the owner is a gem. We will certainly be back!
