Tao Te Café - Grass Valley

We're not usually fans of poke bowls, but when we heard they were offering a pick-up meal kit featuring crab cakes and artichoke dip, we decided to give it a shot. Wow! These might be the best crab cakes we've ever tasted, and we've tried crab cakes from various places over the years. The artichoke dip was undeniably the best we've had as well. The lightly flavored bread that accompanied it was excellent and paired wonderfully with the dip. The salad was simply dressed lettuce, making it a rather typical side for crab cakes. The ordering and pick-up process was smooth and safe, adhering to pandemic guidelines. We can only hope these delicious options return in the future!

We entered this cozy and inviting restaurant to escape the rain today as first-time visitors. If it hadn’t been raining, we might have missed this gem. The building, with its lovely old brick both inside and out, was a big draw for me. As soon as we stepped in, a couple greeted us warmly, and they genuinely seemed happy to see us. They served us homemade miso soup and jasmine pearls tea, both of which were a delight for the palate. The miso soup was fantastic, packed with generous portions of tofu, green onions, bok choy, and mushrooms—absolutely delicious! The tea was soothing and likely the best jasmine tea I’ve ever had. Make sure to visit this wonderful place and savor all it has to offer. We will definitely be returning!

This is a fairly new café located on Mill St, the main street in Grass Valley. It focuses on Japanese and Asian cuisine, and it does a fantastic job. The sashimi bowl was outstanding, and the hot sake was of high quality as well. They also feature live music and have a spacious dance floor. This establishment is perfect for both intimate dinners for two and larger gatherings. I would give it a 5-star rating. - John

My husband and I decided to try this new ,beautiful space in downtown Grass Valley, after attending an event nearby. It had been on our minds ever since it opened as we’d pass by.
