The house itself resembles an art gallery, showcasing the former owner's impressive collection of paintings, ceramics, and jewelry. As such, it feels less like a lived-in home and more like an exhibition space. Interestingly, the kitchen was removed when the National Trust acquired the property in 1942. The gardens are definitely worth a visit and offer ample opportunities for extended walks.
A lovely spot in Dorking! The house is beautiful, furnished with memorabilia and accessories that really capture the essence of its history. The gardens are enchanting, perfect for a leisurely stroll, and there's ample opportunity for a longer walk if you have the time. It's a charming place with quaint shops, cafes, and a bookstore, making it ideal for a delightful day out!
The house and property are stunning, though we were only able to see the ground floor rooms during our visit. It’s a good idea to contact them beforehand to ensure you can explore the entire house. That said, it's definitely worth a visit! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There’s a nice café area that is welcoming to both families and dogs.
