Apparently a popular restaurant, the place was packed. Every table had people when we came there at 5:30 and a couple waited. We said it was 15 minutes for a table, but it was shorter. Not long after we set ourselves, the waiting area filled. At one point during our visit, the seemingly premier sushi rice ran and had to do more, a long process. The waiter (Frank) apologized for this and for waiting and offered to get us something out of the kitchen, which we refused. I didn't think our waiting was very long. Even as busy as they were and with this Snafu, we were there less than 2 hours. It is typical for us to have a 1 1/2-2 hours visit to a restaurant, so this was not long. The food was good. Our normal choices (sushi lovers, volcanic roller) were delicious as always. I loved the snow crab roll that had a prominent crab taste. The garden salad was nothing special, but the ginger dressing was good. We didn't get dessert because it wasn't high in the past.
Food is delicious service great only complaint I have is that I have been here three times in last couple months and they don't have dessert because they say the freezer isn't working that holds ice cream. If you charge a price and include dessert and you don't have dessert then you need to offer something else or take a couple bucks off, no excuses.
Great price and the service was amazing. I highly recommend ordering their octupus sushi. My only pet peeve is that the sushi rice used in my food wasn't sticky, and had little flavor. All of the other ingredients were fantastic! Normally I would give this four stars, but good rice is an integral part of sushi.
Overall the place is great for the price and the service staff were wonderful. The clear soup and tempura veggies were tasty. The portions were great considering the AYCE aspect. We did not do any hibachi, just sushi. The sushi was well kind of disappointing. There were about 10 specialty rolls that did not include the words “mixed” in the description. Those were very good. However, the others are not what I would expect when ordering sushi. Granted it must be how they keep their costs down. But just be aware that if the description says “mixed” you’re getting all the ingredients that are listed, basically puréed. It reminded me of actual cat food. It just so happened the first 3 rolls we ordered were all “mixed” and I was not impressed in the slightest until we got rolls that had actual texture and individual ingredients. Now if you have just some kind of oral surgery by all means these “mixed” rolls will be wonderful for you!
