Bacon Bros. Public House - Greenville

I visited this restaurant for the first time since the pandemic and unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. Before covid, it was pretty good, but now the menu is limited and feels odd. The prices seemed high for what you get at this small restaurant in a strip mall. I tried two items from the snack menu, sprouts and zets. The sprouts lacked flavor and had a hard texture that was concerning. The zets were soggy and covered in a sauce that overwhelmed the dish rather than enhancing it. Overall, I'm not sure if I will be returning to this restaurant.

I have been to Bacon Bros Greenville a few times and everything has always been delicious. However, on our last visit, we ordered the corned beef Reuben, as we had in the past. Unfortunately, this was the worst Reuben we had ever tasted. It was tasteless, lacking in description, and there was very little of all the ingredients in the burnt, roasted bread. The only thing I could recognize was the cheese. The waitress noticed our dissatisfaction and offered to bring us something else, but we declined and finished what was in front of us. In the past, the Reuben sandwich had been thick and tasty, and we even took half of it home for another meal. This time, however, it was not the same. Overall, we were unsure of what we had just eaten and left the restaurant feeling uncertain.

This restaurant is slightly overrated. We came here for lunch and found a good variety of menu options, including dinner dishes, sandwiches, salads, etc. The freshly made blackened dishes were reasonably priced and quite good. Personally, I would have liked the spice to be a bit sweeter and saltier, with less cayenne pepper. However, I think they would pair well with a sweeter beer, wine, or mixed drink. My partner ordered the biggest burger on the menu with added duck egg, bacon, and bacon jam, which he really enjoyed. The twice baked fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. I tried the buffalo chicken sandwich, which sounded good in theory but was overwhelming with flavors, especially the strong pickles and hot sauce. The portions were generous and good value for money, but I would recommend avoiding the buffalo chicken sandwich unless you enjoy intense flavors. Overall, I would give this restaurant four stars.

I had the burger, the bungalow was quite stale, the tweepers (which were few there) were sawed (not fried as the menu said) and the frits had spent more time in the frit and less time under a heat lamp. I expected a good meal for $17, but was very disappointed. am I not back?

We went there last night because of the great reviews. Disappointed is how I would sum it up. We ordered the BBQ sampler. The chicken leg was so undercooked and tough. The ribs were good, but make sure you like a strong smoke flavor if you order. Beer was $10.50 each.
