And they will literally customize every thing on the menu that you want in any way, because it all is completely freshly cooked by scratches. So if you want this menu item, but with the sauce from another and maybe you want the onions in the sauce at all and maybe instead of fish you want chicken and maybe yours on a diet and want the chicken grilled. It doesn't matter that the owner has been waiting for me personally, he's in a wheelchair and he's the best. He's creepy, and he doesn't want anything but for you to love his food. And that's not unusual. He waits for customers every day if they are not busy, he can be the only waiting tables. Now I will say that after taking my order, another younger very right girl served my food and what was not and sometimes there was a bit of a language barrier as well as only pure misunderstandings of certain things. At what time he came out to take care of himself and later on the boss, came and spoke to us as well and delivered a last court of us only so that he understood for the future reference exactly what and how we wanted certain things and what other things were because we thought certain words one and they actually do something completely different. The prices are also very fair. I would say cheap, but I think that would deteriorate their quality. Definitely in price compared to quality and portion size and compared to other hi-end fancy fine Chinese restaraunts around the city. I recently moved to the West Bank, but I traveled quite well and everything I go, I make sure I eat Chinese food. I have never found anything near this level of quality food and service for anyone where close to these prices. And that really says something like Australia's right beside Asia, so the Chinese are quite excellent there. I eat this restaurant several times a week literally.
My son works on the westbank loves this place, so we had to give it a try. What a great place! The steak on a stick was so tender, it melted in our mouths. I had the soft shell crab with crawfish which was so fresh and flavorful that I couldn't stop eating it even though I was full. One of my sons had his favorite General's Chicken. Since they will often make something not on the menu, my other son asked for Cantonese shrimp. My husband chose the Shanghai Chicken. The homemade sauces for every dish were fantastic, and we had food to take home. We will definitely make the trip across the bridge again to eat there.
The Red Palace is a stereotypical, highway-fronted Chinese restaurant sort of shabby- you know the type). But, the interior does seem to have been renovated as recently as 1991. I ordered the Lunch Special $6.75) Mandarin Chicken, which came with good oily not greasy) shrimp-fried rice, an outstanding egg-roll, and interesting chicken, in the sense of its semi-clear brown sauce, as opposed to the usual opaque, thick gravy. A separate metal vessel of duck sauce was brought to the table good stuff, too). The only drawback was the slightly-slow service and the fact that the entree did not come over a bed of lettuce, which I assumed was the norm for Mandarin Chicken. There is easy parking and easy access to U.S. Hwy. 90 Business Route West Bank Expressway). They also have a separate bar area, which seemed pretty nice. Looked like they had some regulars, hanging out in there. I'd recommend this place and would return. RJT
The food was very tasty. We ordered shrimp fried rice and egg rolls to go. We called ahead and the food was ready and still hot. Good job!
I have to say, you see this place and your kinds sketchy about it , but the staff are amazing as well as the food! I'm assuming the owner is there all the time and he is super sweet and funny and very friendly ! Me and my boyfriend always come here when we are in the mood for Takeout ! This is the best place hands down and the prices aren't honestly that bad !
