Mirador Del Lago - Restaurante-Parrilla-Bar

Good customer service, nice view, but that's it. Food isn't nice, doesn't have any taste, I found a hair in my fish and afterwards I got sick. The pictures I posted everything looks pretty good, but isn't the reality.

Since we spend the day with a local, she insisted on trying a Sancocho: a tasty and richly filled soup/stew (chicken, plantain, patato). We ended up at the 5th floor with lake view of Mirador (all floors have view). The sancocho was served with: Plantain, avocado, rise, banana.. too much! Nice view, nice local food.

There are several restaurants on this street all serving the same thing. This place is not worth the visit. We were sold on the view from one. The top floors. All the tables beside the window were dirty full of old food and empty bottles which were never cleaned up for the 2 hours we were there. It was dirty, food and drinks took over an hour. The whole place just had garbage and food everywhere. Yuck.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable lunch here, mostly since I decided to try the regional specialties of bandeja paisa and mazomorra, which had been recommended by a Colombian friend prior to our traveling to Colombia, The bandeja paisa was a very hearty dish that I liked a lot, especially with the spicy aji served on the side (although completely consumed by me). I found no part of the preparation of this dish to be anything but good quality. The mazomorra was less appealing to me; it is related to horchata which I had several times in Mexico, Central America and even in California, but I liked the flavors of the horchata better. The grilled lake trout my wife ate was fine too, but not exceptional. Service was friendly and efficient. The setting should look out across the lake, but the construction work on the malecon currently in progress (as of February, 2019) marred the view.

Guatape is a fun desination cuz there is lots of activity, especially with piedra del penol nearby. We wanted to eat lunch on the waterfront, but were somewhat disappointed with that expeience. The food was mediocre, as was the service. Another drawback was all the street kiosks blocking the view of the lake. People watching was good, we played real or fake?
