Tegami Sushi Bar - GUBBIO

My boyfriend and I drove out of our way to Gubbio on a Tuesday night 01/04/22 specifically to check out this restaurant due to the good feedback found online. To our dismay we had an awful experience. We were both excited to have sushi as we haven’t had any since being in America. When we arrived at 7:25 for our 7:30 reservation we were immediately sat by a kind looking waiter, but looks can be deceiving. The restaurant was completely empty with just us, the waiter, the kitchen staff and someone picking up a to go order. Right away the waiter came over with his QR reader asking us for our Green Pass. We have had this same situation happen to us upon arriving in Italy a week ago so we were prepared and pulled out our American vaccine card because it always has worked. Immediately the waiter told us in Italian, as my Italian born boyfriend speaks the language, “I cannot accept that. You need a Green Pass to eat here. Other tourists have been rejected before. Blah blah.” He kept going on and on not even letting my boyfriend get in a word. It was extremely rude, unacceptable and embarrassing. 1. I may be a tourist, but my boyfriend is a dual citizen and it is an extensive process for both of us to get a Green Pass and unnecessary as we don’t need one. 2. Legally we had a right to be there. Make sure your staff is educated of the current laws. 3. If you have “tourists” coming all the way to your location and wanting to spend good money, maybe you should treat them with more respect. I understand these COVID protocols are annoying, inconsistent and shouldn’t be a reason to write a bad review, but due to the waiters rude attitude I felt inclined to do so. We were kindly accepted to another restaurant nearby and felt very welcomed. Thanks.

Best Sushi Restaurant in town. Fresh Fish and good vibes. Small cozy place with historic walls. In the heart of Gubbio center. They also make excellent Cocktails and Have a big choice of rolls
