Flying Harpoon - Gulf Shores

Service was a 1 or 2 but everything else was a 5. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because the food was so freaking good! Our server was super nice but never told us anything. We waited and waited. Finally ordered drinks. Waited again. Finally ordered food. Waited and waited again. After about 90 minutes from us walking into the restaurant, we finally got our food. Staff just needs to learn to communicate with its patrons. We were seated at a table right when we walked in, but the wait at the table was brutal! Anyway, the food was worth the wait. Everything was incredible. We got the swamp dip with chips- delicious Founder basket- amazing. Probably the most tender fish I've ever eaten. The breading was fried to perfection. Fried shrimp basket was also fried to perfection; so tender. We'd come back here again for sure; we'd just mentally prepare for a long wait at the table.

This tiny little dive bar is a great place to go if you want to burn a few hours. It is mostly a bar with a few tables inside and out on the deck. Every time I've been here they have been crazy busy, and service is slow. They have live music, the bar tender and servers are all really nice, and it is a great place to kick back for a few hours and enjoy music, drinks and the view. They have a mixed drink menu with their own take on things, nice selection of appetizers and entrees. We ordered some buffalo shrimp to start, which was great, and everything else we ordered was great too.

This is a two star joint at best. Appears to be a local hangout and one that's in dire need of repair and a deep cleaning. We were here for lunch and ordered the Shrimp Po boys. Crazy pricing at $12 for only a 6 inch sandwich with NO side. And, worst of all, the sandwich was not good. The bread was stale and that alone pretty much ruined the sandwich. They serve it with a side of tartar or shrimp sauce and we had to ask for a remoulade. We also ordered a side of their hand cut potato chips and if you look at the picture they were totally freaking lame. A handful of under cooked potato chips with a side of a mayonnaise-based dipping sauce for $4.50! Very small place, but the one bright spot was that the service was good. Many great places to eat in the area, do not waste your time or money here!

Great dive bar. A house converted to a bar. Looks like a good spot to sit around and bs but don't wear a suit and tie even though they have a elevator! Nothing to write home about, but enjoyed it none the less! The walls are decorated with customer drawings and it really brings character. The bartender has some sass about her that is appreciated. She keeps it real and doesn't take any ****! Great spot. Great iced tea!

Ali and Roy are awesome!! We live local dive bars and definitely were not disappointed! It right by the water and boats would pull up for drinks! They had live music while we were there. Food was very good. Definitely will be back if we are ever in town! Not sure I would recommend bringing your children, but lots were there, and I only say this because of the naughty pictures! Lol
