Curtisen - Halden

I have dined at Curtisen many times, and they always deliver on quality, a friendly smile and excellent food based on local produce. Highly recommend a visit!

Dinner at Curtisen is the epitome of dining experiences. The specially prepared food is easily among the most delicious and highest quality we have ever had. The wine pairings were phenomenal. The best part of the meal though has to be the personal attention from the staff. From the head chef Sebastian, apprentice chefs Vilde and Theodor, to hovmester Øystein, they treat you like family visiting their home warm and friendly. We loved our time at Curtisen and hope to return in the future!

The welcome was good. The sommelier greeted us with bubbles, but when I mentioned that it tasted different than what he thought it should taste like, I was obviously wrong. The evening was nice. Simple dishes with lots of froth of leaves and vegetables. But it tasted good. Super service! But then there was a wine tasting in the wine cellar. And once again, the sommelier made it clear that he was better than us at knowing what wine was, and how it tastes. This is science, he said. And then he said something I have never heard from a sommelier: now I have finally gotten them to adjust the food to the wine!

Second time here. Fantastic atmosphere with an exceptionally engaging staff. Surprised with an invitation down to the wine cellar, wine tasting, and a small wine talk in the middle of the courses. The food is at least at a Bib Gourmand level. Highly recommended! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
