I'm pretty certain it's 100% vegan and it's delicious.
If you enjoy the visuals of food and restaurant spaces, I believe you will enjoy eating at Uu Dam Chay. The restaurant offers a very specific experience, so it is not suitable for everyone, which is OK. I personally enjoyed my experience at Uu Dam Chay a lot. Walking underneath a canopy with lights is necessary before you enter the restaurant building. I thought that canopy was grand! The best dishes I experienced were: the Noodle Platter with an assortment of side ingredients, including starfruit; the mini hot pot with veggies; the mango sticky rice dessert (with 5 scoops of rice in 5 different colors). I agree that this is not the type of place that you would eat at every week, but it is a great place when you want a special treat and experience.
This is a beautiful fine dining area with a large ambience that you need to make a reservation. We went through our hotel. The food is delicious with great presentation. There is an English menu. The waiters spoke limited English, but we could communicate about Google Translate.
A good meal, but not a great one. The room is incredibly impressive and it is so encouraging to see a vegetarian joint that has enjoyed the success that UU Dam Chay enjoyed. The Pesto Rice and the pad Thai noodles were both very nice. The Mushroom tempura platter was oily and seasoned. The roasted tofu was beautiful, but the tofu with the young rice crumb was not great. The vegan options were not marked and I'm not sure if everything we ordered at the end was Vegan: The service wasn't great, but maybe we went on a day when it was incredibly packed and busy. In view of prices, this was very disappointing. It was difficult to place an order because of the wealth of options, but above all because the menu felt like a textbook – it could have been more than 50 pages in total. It's very hard to scan and make your thoughts. The most beautiful vegetarian places in Vietnam have this kind of menu and it is not a good way to help people make their thoughts! Overall, we in Vietnam really loved our meals in the smaller local restaurants than the Fancier Spots like UU Dam.
