The Bull - Haringey

My wife, baby, and I had an amazing experience for Mother's Day at this restaurant. The roasts we ordered were cooked perfectly, the portions were generous, and they were served promptly. Despite the busy Mother's Day crowd, the staff were friendly and attentive. It has been years since we have had a roast this good, and the chocolate brownie dessert was heavenly! We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

The restaurant's menu used to be great and the food was delicious, but I was very disappointed on my recent visit. I probably wouldn't go back again. It seems like they may have changed their kitchen staff.

Today, I had the worst Sunday roast meal at a pub/restaurant that I can remember. I am not likely to return. The portions were just enough, and we were asked if we wanted to add a side dish, which was not surprising in hindsight. The kale was tough to cut, and the potato was cold. After bringing this to the waiter's attention, my plate was returned with the potatoes properly heated. However, the rest of the meal was barely warm, indicating it had been made in advance. The beef slices were gristly, and it seemed they had been carved cold and reheated. The carrots and gravy were tasty, the red cabbage and Yorkshire pudding were fine. The sticky toffee pudding was unavailable and replaced by Christmas pudding, which I selected and enjoyed, although the portion was small and overpriced at £8.

We had a small gathering at The Bull to celebrate my mum's life. It is not the easiest thing to do, having a funeral in between Christmas and New Year. But the staff and atmosphere of this place really stood out. The room was perfect, there is space to sit and eat but also to mingle. You can play your own playlist and have photos on a slideshow on the TV. The food was perfect, the staff incredibly helpful but also respectful of the occasion and not intrusive in any way. We did not want for anything, didn't have to wait for anything. I would warmly recommend it to anybody for a function.

Very helpful staff, thank you. My friend was a little disappointed with his dish , mentioned as much to the waiter and without a word or a quibble the item was removed from the bill. Fair play for such a trouble free resolution. The beer is very well kept, thanks to an excellent cellar man.
