I strongly recommend this Honey Baked Ham restaurant for all your holiday and everyday needs. They also have a great selection of sandwiches for lunch. In addition to ham, there are other tasty options available. Make sure to check it out!
I strongly recommend this restaurant for 2020. During my visit, I discovered that it has only three locations in New York State: Albany, Long Island, and Hartsdale. There's ample parking available, along with outdoor seating and a good amount of indoor seating. The menu is simple and to the point. I opted for the soup and sandwich meal, and it was fantastic. I ordered the Classic ham sandwich (I added pesto, which I highly recommend) along with the ham and bean soup. Every bite was delicious and reasonably priced.
I visited this restaurant once and was disappointed because they were too busy with holiday preparations to make me a fresh sandwich. I had to resort to choosing from the pre-made options in the refrigerator, which they referred to as "Box and Go." Ultimately, I decided to leave, and I’m not sure if I’ll return. The food selection is quite nice, and they offer some appealing desserts. It might be a great spot for ham lovers. Perhaps one day I’ll give it another try and they’ll be willing to make me a fresh sandwich. I think opening for breakfast could be a great idea; serving ham and eggs along with orange juice and coffee could attract more customers. It seems like they may not be considering all the possibilities. When I walked in and was the only one asking for a fresh sandwich, only to be turned away, it felt like something was amiss.
I ordered two of the smallest family meals, which include one meat, one side, and four rolls each. I chose one portion of turkey and one portion of ham, along with stuffing, smashed potatoes, and a total of eight rolls. The sides needed to be baked in the oven at 375°F for 55 minutes, and the meat should be taken out of the fridge two hours before serving, as it is meant to be enjoyed at room temperature. The meat was flavorful and stayed moist, while the stuffing had a delightful combination of moistness and crunch, with visible pieces of celery and rosemary adding a herby and peppery taste. The smashed potatoes were rich with cheddar, bacon, and chives, though my only complaint was that the chives on top ended up burnt. For dessert, I purchased the rum cake sampler, which includes four different flavors. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm hopeful they'll be delicious. I'll update this review once I do. Overall, I recommend this spot. It's a unique and pleasantly surprising option, especially when you don't feel like cooking.
The food was excellent. However, it was strange that the register wasn't working when I paid in cash with a $50 bill. I was given my change manually, but the register worked fine for the customer who referred me that day. I was told they had a brand new system, but it seemed like they were able to handle my order easily before. The staff member was friendly, but she left the register open while handling my order, walking around with a $50 bill in her hand. Thankfully, the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. I think a bit more training would be beneficial.
