The Sportsman - Hassocks

After having lunch and dinner there several times, I can honestly say that the variety and quality of food is exceptional. Matt, along with the management and staff, are warm, friendly, and attentive. They always seem genuinely happy to see and serve you. It's just a shame that we have to drive to get there, so enjoying a glass of wine isn't really feasible! Nevertheless, we will definitely be returning. John B.

Finding this restaurant can be a bit challenging, but it's truly a hidden gem. The pub food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is very pleasant overall. This establishment dates back to the 1800s and was once two separate pubs that were merged, providing ample space for patrons. During my last visit for lunch, I enjoyed the Tuna Nicoise Salad, which was generously topped with large pieces of char-grilled tuna. We accompanied our meal with a bottle of Rioja Blanco, which was excellent. There's also a spacious garden perfect for large groups looking to enjoy a sunny Sunday lunch!

This pub is simply amazing—it’s a genuine traditional English pub without any bothersome slot machines! They offer an excellent variety of constantly changing ales, and as a member of CAMERA, I appreciate the discount. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There's a lovely garden, and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this pub to everyone, including families with children and dogs, as both are warmly welcomed.
