Penny Lick Ice Cream

Great service, ice cream is made fresh on site and delicious.

Visited on a hot day. Really cute shop. The older gentleman behind the counter was awesome and super friendly. The customer service of the high school kids was hit or miss. Lol! They had a lot of interesting flavors like sweet corn, and grape nut. All of the flavors I sampled were ok. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and the ice cream was nice and creamy, but the actual flavor was kind of lacking. Everything tasted a little bland (for lack of a better word). I got milk chocolate and fika. I could barely tell the difference between the flavors and the chocolate was really pale and didn’t have great chocolate flavor. I’m usually a fan of simple, clean flavors, but this was a little too simple for me.

This is a nice little ice cream shop with friendly staff and a good variety of flavours. There’s also some rotating seasonal flavour options. I had a scoop of the blueberry jam ice cream and it was tasty, although slightly icy. My wife had the honeycomb ice cream and that one was really good. There’s also options to purchase pre-packaged pints. I definitely look forward to returning to try some of the other flavours.

This is our favorite ice-cream place! We took our nut-allergic/dairy sensitive niece and our nephew recently and it was the highlight of their visit. My husband loves the vegan dark chocolate coconut and I adore Chocolate Malt (as well as Mocha Macchiato and Maple Salted Caramel). Our grown kids go for Milk Chocolate and Fresh Mint Chip. Truly delicious homemade ice cream! The staff is friendly and Hastings is a quaint town to explore while you munch!
