Hong Kong Garden - Havering

My wife and I agree that this is the best Chinese takeout we've ever had. We particularly enjoy Set Menu A and the duck in plum sauce. The meatballs are also more flavorful and substantial compared to others we've tried.

I have visited this restaurant a few times now and have always enjoyed the delicious food and wide variety of options. The staff is friendly and accommodating, offering to deliver even though we live nearby, so we usually opt to pick up our orders instead.

We’ve been using this Chinese takeaway for many years. Called in twice recently after a couple of months absence. The food was bland. Slimy in appearance. Very unappetising.What a shame. Have they changed hands? Have they changed chefs? Disappointing is all I can say. Very sad day.

Horrible experience with this Chinese takeout. The Singapore rice was overly orange and had an overwhelming taste of tomato and MSG. When I contacted the restaurant to voice my complaint, the chef claimed the color was from the chili paste. Will not be ordering from here again.

I'd previously stopped using this takeaway when they were based in their previous location (before they were moved to build the new library as their food wasn't very good. I happened to be passing late on on a Sunday evening hadn't eaten so thought I'd give them another chance. It wasn't great but not the worst I've had. Their vegetable chop suey had a very odd sweet flavour, tasted more like a dessert! The curry sauce was fine but then that's only a mix they use so they can't go far wrong. The chips were a bit on the dry side (warm ups? but were fine with the curry sauce poured over them. Would probably use again if circumstances dictated it but would have something other than the chop suey.
