Great Southern Hotel - Haymarket

The great needs to remove, it is very outdated and the rooms were not covid clean good location though. only the reason we have stayed will probably not stay again

Like a sporty set, but with taking the centralized music can not play a sound, has also quite expensive drinks (and very expensive eat) and a bad selection of them, with happy hour especially limited.

Very cheap hotel in view of its location. I was three times in the last 12 months. the staff is great, the main is fantastic, the meals are quite good. beer is cold, with chinatown in front of the door. the rooms are good, petty, but all they need. in. the room to sleep.

This was my second visit to the Great Southern Hotel the first one was a week ago on a Saturday night and we had a nine year old with us , interestingly enough security said children were allowed til 9.30pm which was Great, after having...a few drinks there amongst the night atmosphere we decided to return on our next visit to the city for a meal here. There is a good variety of entrees , mains and desserts, steak prices varied depending on the size and ranged from $17 to $30, chicken parmagamia was $26. The meal are served with a choice of chips and salad or vegetables. We both ordered the 250g rump and it was more than large enough, there was a good choice of sauces to go with the meal. You order and pay for your meal at the bar, two steaks and a soft drink cane to $42.00 very reasonable. If I had to pick a fault our meal wss not brought straight to us as I was not given a number but it had been walked around the dinning room but thankfully it was still hot and we both enjoyed the steak it was delicious. My partner and I then went into the bar and had a few drinks while the prices at the Great Southern are on par with most other places $22 for two spirit drinks can become expensive. This pub was so busy on a Saturday afternoon it was semi crowded when we arrived at 1.30pm and we left after 5 hours and it was full. The bar staff and security guard were great, the security guard even remembered us from the week before. I will definitely come back here.

Well positioned, near Sydney 's Chinatown the Great Southern hotel makes a great base to explore the city from. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with air conditioning (and ceiling fans) which deal with the weather admirably in the warmer seasons. The hotel offers dining, and has...it 's own bar, with outdoor seating for those who wish. The hotel is situated in easly walking distance of the city 's shopping district, including the famous Paddy 's Market , and is just a street away from the Central railway station. As of Dec 14th 2019, it will also have easy access to Sydney 's new tram System, making the cruise ship port just a short journey away. Overall a great place for a stopover, or for discovering all Sydney has to offer.
