The Catch - Hertsmere

Unfortunately, the restaurant was closing down the weekend we visited. The building and land were being sold to property developers. It's a shame because we have been dining here for 25 years and only have positive things to say about the food and service.

The evening was well presented with a great menu and atmosphere.

We read in the local paper that the restaurant is due to close so decided to book before it was too late. Have been to the Alpine several times since the 1970's and have never had a bad experience here. Made to feel welcome on arrival, coats hung up and shown to table. Had plenty of time to consider menu and drinks and then ordered. My only complaint was that the food was served too quickly giving it the feel of a fast food establishment. Not enough time between courses. Still I am glad that I went and sad that it is closing.

My wife, son I booked a table for early evening on the occasion of my birthday. We had a nice table in a quiet part of the restaurant. We enjoy coming here as it is relatively quiet and you can have a proper conversation without having to shout. The carpet and material on the walls helps absorb the noise which is good. The waiters were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was excellent as always again you can always rely on getting good food here. The taste and flavour was superb as was the presentation. My son remarked that it was the best meal he had ever had there, and we have been coming for many years (not very frequently, but regularly), so it is good that the quality is always improving. There is a lot on the menu that is in season too. We chose the set menu as we feel this represents very good value for money. Overall a lovely evening out.
