Located in a historic and culturally significant area, this restaurant is a must-visit spot. The owners have done a great job with a simple set-up, but it's a shame that the South African government or council doesn't have the vision to see its full potential. Tourism needs support to thrive, and this hidden gem definitely deserves more recognition. Just remember to bring a jacket, as it can get cool in the evenings.
After spending hours canoeing in the Coorong, we decided to stop by this restaurant for some hot chips and a cup of coffee. The chips were delicious, the coffee was excellent, the service was quick, and the staff were very nice and friendly.
Good fresh fish - we had the flathead - and excellent chips. A bit windy today but otherwise a great location on the Coorong by the Murray Mouth with the tang of salt in the air and pelicans flying overhead. Lots of families, kids and dogs visiting and those who've been before well prepared with their own chairs and eskies (with presumably beers and wines inside! ) as apparently when it gets really busy there aren't enough chairs and tables. The staff are friendly and efficient. Will be back soon to check out the coffee, definitely would go again for the food.
An atmosphere of relaxation and picnic pleasure fostered by the riverside scenery and friendly camaraderie of the staff. Crisp fresh fish and well seasoned chips went down well accompanied by refreshing sparkling water with ice cream to top it off. A great holiday experience we will long remember. A most popular eatery with every picnic table occupied and many enjoying the experience from the waters edge.
