Located just north of Clearwater, Florida, the National Comedy Hall of Fame is a hidden gem. We were able to score a great deal on Groupon and it was definitely worth it and then some. The artifacts and historical exhibits are truly impressive. If you have the opportunity, taking a tour with Tony Belmont really enhances the experience. Don't forget to inquire about memberships and spread the word to support this wonderful establishment. Comedy is an essential part of human storytelling, and witnessing the evolution of this art form is a delightful experience.
I was thrilled to discover this hidden gem. Tony, the owner, took the time to share personal stories with us about interviewing various comedians. The museum is filled with a wide range of videos, pictures, and memorabilia. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit.
The National Comedy Hall of Fame (NCHOF) is the home to all things comedy, from vaudeville to slapstick, ventriloquists to stand-up, radio to feature films. If it is comedy--and it 's good--it will be here at the NCHOF. If you like stand-up performers, humorous films or physical comedy, then this is definitely a place for you. In truth, the NCHOF will appeal to a large swath of people. The exhibits cover a broad range of interesting topics. Some exhibits feature priceless pieces of Americana or have a great deal of historical significance. In any case, there is something here a person can appreciate--even if comedy isn 't his/her thing. The tour starts with a viewing of the coveted Hall of Fame; afterwords, guests enter the main hall. Patrons first learn about comedy 's origin and how it is traced back to the ancient Greeks. Moving forward the tour winds through the decades and wraps up with present day talent. The exhibits along the way are presented in an informative and entertaining manner that keeps a person 's interest. Several exhibits have audio and video clips to accompany the costumes, photos and written biographies of the featured performer(s). If you visit the NCHOF at the right time, you may be lucky enough to have Tony Belmont guide you through your tour. He truly has a firm grasp of the subject matter and personally knew or interviewed many of the people highlighted at the NCHOF. His stories and anecdotes alone about the performers are worth the admission. This is an attraction I highly recommend. It 's a place that honors every form of comedy as well as notable personalities who contributed to the genre. Benny, Chaplin and Keaton to Carlin, Murphy and Pryor, plus a lot more, are here to be discovered (or rediscovered) by comedy fans of all ages.
National Comedy Hall of Fame is one of the most amazing places if you want to find out something new about comedians and the history of comedy. It's is a nice museum with so many things to see inside. Definitely a must-see museum!
