Uptown Sushi - Houston

Yum! I don't typically eat sushi much, but that meal was delicious and I can't wait to return soon!

I prefer more traditional nigiri but the menu is mostly special rolls and nigiri.

The atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant were trendy and cool, and the food was delicious. However, there were several things that detracted from the overall experience. Firstly, despite noting in our reservation that it was a birthday/special occasion, no special recognition was made. Additionally, we requested a more private booth but were told they were only for parties of four, yet several parties of two were seated at them. The service was lacking, with our waitress not checking on us frequently and long wait times between dishes. Our chopsticks were not replaced after the appetizers, and there were hygiene issues with a grapefruit garnish and a hair in our dessert. These issues make me question the cleanliness and freshness of the restaurant, especially important for a sushi establishment. We may give it another chance in the future, but for now, it was a disappointing experience.

The new uptown sushi is not as good as before. The service is fair at best. The drinks are watered down. The sushi is okay. Nothing special. Just a neighborhood place and nothing special. More families and not fine dining.

Best dining experience! Great atmosphere and servers are knowledgeable. Sushi is best in town, my favorite is the Godzilla roll, but all are amazing. Also the best lychee martinis in town. If you prefer wine, champagne, or sake, Uptown Sushi has a great selection.
