Da Mario Italian - Hua Hin

I've stopped in a few times and I think they're serving one of the better pizzas in all hua. at my last visit I ordered a caesar salad and a gorgonzola pizza with ham. Both were very good. the pizza is cooked in a real wood-fired pizza oven and the results are excellent. the restaurant is located north of the hilton and is worth the short walk. if they are looking for good pizza, they give this place a try!

Read on a local new page that this place is one of the 52 Italian restaurants in Thailand with an ospitalia italiana authenticity price, so it had to check at our time in hua. the price is great for what they get (the price in bangkok or in a hotel would be easy 2x so much) and the setting, although humble, adds the authenticity of eating an Italian lunch or dinner in a quiet beach town.

Update 02/2019. still my favorite pizza place in hua. fair prices, friendly staff and owners. not sure why others rated it under 4 stars, not a fat loss on their pizza. very happy customer!

Beautiful location personal friendly taste pizza the best I eat in Thailand outside a bit noisy, but it is Thai so if u love Italian eating, it is the right place!

I have relocated to Hua Hin after retiring in October of 2019. I am a big fan of Thai food, but occasionally I get homesick for some American food, and pizza is often at the top of the list of my cravings. I had heard rumors that Da Mario was the place to go for some good pizza, and then I saw an article which mentioned that it was one of the few Italian restaurants in Hua Hin that was endorsed by the Italian government in regards to authenticity. I decided that I needed to try this place. The restaurant is located on a small road which parallels the beach. It is a tourist area and there are several restaurants and hotels along this narrow road. It actually almost looks like a little Italian road along the Mediterranean, if you ignore the Thai writing on all of the signs! The restaurant is open to the road and you can sit at your table and watch the people walk by. It is quite entertaining while you wait for your meal. I ordered the Chef 's Special pizza, which, as was explained to me, had a number of ingredients, to include mushrooms, salami, and ham. It sounded good, so I ordered it. There was a promotion going on, which allowed me to get a second pizza for a few dollars more. This sounded like a good deal, so I got two identical pies. The pizza was cooked in a wood fired oven, and the crust and the taste of the dough was fantastic. It was a great pizza. What didn 't work for my American palate was the fact that each topping was relegated to its own separate location on the pie. I would have liked it better if all of the topping were spread evenly on the face. Other than that minor complaint, the food, service, ambience, and location were fantastic. I will definitely return to discover more of the menu.
