Basil Thai Cuisine - Huntington Beach

Over the past six or seven months, we've ordered from here quite a bit, but it seems that the quality of the food and takeout service is declining. The jungle curry with chicken was excessively spicy. They've also mixed up our orders with those of other customers, and this last time, they mistakenly gave our food to someone else, which I'm sure is quite frustrating for them! We're upset too because now we have to wait for our takeout to be prepared, which defeats the purpose of convenience. Additionally, the portion sizes have noticeably decreased. I ordered the yellow curry, and it was mostly liquid with hardly any contents. There were just a couple of chopped potatoes, two small pieces of carrots, and a few slices of chicken. Yet, it seemed like there was at least half an onion in there, which really impacted the flavor for the worse. It appears that whoever is cooking may not have a good sense of balance in flavors, as the excessive onion completely overpowered the dish. The Ginger Lover dish has also taken a turn for the worse; it's been overly saturated with ginger to the point where it's almost nauseating. **Previous Review - August 2023:** The food was delicious then. The only reason I didn't give five stars was that the number 44 dish was a bit salty, and the Thai iced tea was overly sweet. However, we were definitely planning to return, and I intended to ask them to go easy on the salt during my next order.

The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Our server, Megan, was very knowledgeable about the menu, which made choosing our dishes a breeze.

Food was good, prices were great, portions were great. Hard to find this combo anymore. If you like spicy, make sure to ask for spicy.

My wife called the restaurant to report the mistake and spoke to a rather disrespectful woman who informed her that the person taking orders was new and this was their first day on the job. My wife suggested that perhaps training would be more appropriate on a new employee's first day rather than taking orders. The woman simply replied with a sarcastic "Wow!"—no apology, no offer to deliver the correct food. The only solution she offered was for us to return to the restaurant so they could see if they could resolve the issue. That was not something we were willing to do. Due to this unacceptable experience and the typical GenZ attitude we encountered, we have decided to take our business elsewhere. We have found a new Thai restaurant with much better food and excellent service. Mahkin Thai Sushi, located nearby, offers a fantastic experience. If you're considering where to dine, I highly recommend trying Mahkin Thai Sushi—you won't be disappointed.
