Vishandel Gerard Van Es - Ijmuiden

Fish so fresh it almost swims to the plate!! We found this place returning from a day trip to the beach at Ijmuiden. Tucked back in the industrial part of the harbor, it was a very lucky find! The menu is almost all fish (they had one steak and one chicken) and it is all local. The food was fantastic! I had the special 3 course menu for that day, which was shrimp cocktail (the best I have ever eaten: served warm with a vinaigrette) and on-the-bone fillets of schol, a fish similar to flounder. It was two huge fillets! Dessert was coffee, but my friend had an amazing frozen cookie/ice cream dessert that was amazing. The menu is extensive with a variety of local caught fish, and the wine list small but tasty. The service was quite cheery too. Next time you crave seafood, go here!
