Sawaki Ryokan - Imabari

Excellent and authentic ryokan. Thank you Mai-san and the rest of the team for your hospitality, this was unforgettable! Highly recommending this ryokan for anyone who is cycling Shimanami Kaido!

Very friendly and hospitable staff especially Mai-san and Sachiko-san who took real good care of us. Ryokan was very bike friendly. They have a special room for bike storage where they have complete set of tools if you want to work on your bike. Ryokan didn’t have an onsen but they can take you via van to the nearest onsen place and would also provide you with the necessary bath essentials.

I was very glad to stay here, on Omishima island. Staff were very nice and they did a big effort to communicate with us in English. The room was very beautiful, with a truly Japanese feeling. I highly recommend taking the breakfast which was huge and delicious for only around 1100 yen more per person. The location is actually much better than expected : while this town is small, it has a 24h Lawson, some ATMs (Japan post), a brewery and an very nice Onsen (you can get ticket from the ryokan for only 350 yen). Omishima also turned out to be the most beautiful island to bike in my opinion, especially the northern part. I believe this ryokan could be a very good place to stay 2 nights, bike around, and come back on the last day.

旅館さわき/Sawaki is amazing, dinner is excellent, we will sleep on tatami and room service is great. The only thing is the wifi is unstable and reception here is not so good.

Room was gorgeous, the breakfast was breathtaking. I arrived after a cycling accidentally quite beat up, and a staff member drove my partner to a combini for food, gave me plasters and painkillers (though the hospital had dosed me up), and, in the morning, showed us the quickest way off the island (next stop was Hiroshima), then drove us to the terminal and told the lady working there where we were headed. Honestly best hotel I've ever stayed in, a genuine 10/10
