The staff is friendly, and there’s ample parking available in the back. I tried the Creole Shrimp served with Cheddar Cheese Grits. Although I’m not usually a fan of grits, the chef prepared them perfectly, achieving a creamy consistency with a delicious cheesy flavor that complemented the shrimp wonderfully. My friend opted for the Huli Huli Chicken, and both of our dishes had a nice kick to them. We felt the Huli Huli Chicken resembled Jamaican Jerk Chicken more than anything. Regardless, both meals were enjoyable and reasonably priced. The restaurant also features a full bar. It's located on 22nd Street, making it easy to find. This area is growing and can get quite busy, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, so you might want to either plan ahead or brave the crowds.
We were seated right away and given ample time to peruse the menu. Our waitress was laid-back yet attentive, checking in on us often. She even allowed one of our group members to snack outside while we waited for the rest to arrive, which was a generous move since she had just finished a workout and needed a quick pick-me-up. Normally, I might have frowned upon that, but I truly appreciated the staff's understanding and kindness. We ordered several drinks, and the standout was the sour one. I tried a cider from Ash Elm, which was good, but I’m usually more inclined to opt for on-tap beverages, so I might choose something different next time. The highlight of our meal was the flatbread, which was wonderfully drenched in balsamic sauce, topped with perfectly roasted tomatoes and vegetables—it was absolutely delicious! I have previously enjoyed their No Meat meatloaf, so I decided to try it again this time. However, it seemed to have a different recipe and didn't quite match my memory; it lacked some flavor. I also missed the roasted Brussels sprouts that used to accompany it, so I might explore other options on my next visit. While I appreciate change, I do wish they would bring back the original recipe, as it was unique in the city! I highly recommend Shoefly for group outings or casual meet-ups for drinks, plus they host fun events that are always a hit too.
Had the chance to go back to this place and eat some of the awesome food, my friends wanted snacks and a non club vibe so I suggested shoefly. It was late enough that there wasn't a ton of people. All of the food was so dang tasty! We had fries with garlic parmesan and great dipping sauces. Pasta nachos, that may sound odd, but worth trying, very flavorful! The goat cheese flat bread is something I could of had 7 slices of, but wanted to be a good dining partner and share with others. We also had some corn bread to finish off everything and it was tasty as well, I'd love to try it with some chili! You can also have local beers or something from a little further south. The brown note from Louisville Kentucky was so prefect for a cold night although the can is kind weird. Our waiter was amazing, someone who genuinely enjoys what he does. Love shoefly! Can't wait to go back
COVID-19 Review: We've been relying on Shoefly for a lot of our fresh groceries, and I'm truly thankful for the service they provide to the community! We've gotten into a routine of placing our grocery orders once a week and sometimes deciding at the last minute to add a dinner order. Picking everything up at the same time is super easy. Grocery orders should be placed by 3 PM the day before pick-up. You can find the available items and pricing on their website, which is updated daily. On the day of pick-up, a member of the Shoefly team will call to collect your credit card information. When you arrive, just stay in your car and call the number posted on their sign, and a team member will bring your order directly to your trunk or wherever you prefer. You can tip at the time of payment or when you pick up your order and sign! And believe me, the service is so fantastic that you'll definitely want to leave a tip!
The food at Shoefly is inventive pub food and a great place to bring your vegetarian friends. We have continued to patronize this business during the Covid-19 crisis since the restaurant has made placing an online order so very easy. The curb-side pick up makes it quick and safe. Even better, you can get groceries from them and beer and wine. Score! Some of my favorite menu items are: 1. The potato fries tossed in parmesan and garlic. Hands down the best fries in the city. Really enjoy them with the hickory dijon sauce. 2. The Hoosier sandwich. Pork and apple are always a lovely flavor combo. The pork is always so juicy. 3. Dessert. Never had one that I wasn't extremely please with. 4. The tacos. Another item in which I have loved every variation they come up with. They traditionally have outdoor seating on the side of their building. I hope this returns with the slow lifting of covid-19 precautions. It is a nice spot to bring the family on a sunny day.
