Hands down, Hotel Tango is the best distillery/bar in Indiana, and I would even wager in the Midwest! When you consider the quality of their spirits, the creativity of their cocktails and the camaraderie within their culture, they’re simply unmatched. We’re quickly becoming regulars here, and each time we’re in the staff has been so friendly and welcoming. If you’re not sure what to order (there are so many great options) they always take time to talk about your preferences and share the highlights of their seasonal menu. The cocktails they offer are incredibly creative. With a menu that changes seasonally, kudos to their bartenders for always finding exciting new ways to present their spirits. You’ll never find cocktails like this anywhere else, guaranteed! Also, we recently discovered they serve food! They nachos featuring the Broad Ripple Chips were surprisingly good and a perfect shareable.
It's not on the menu but you can ask for a flight and choose 4 of their liquor/liqueurs to try a shot of (and they do not skimp on the pours). Only minor aggravation was when we walked in, one guy says sit anywhere, we pull out stools at the bar and a woman immediately says this bar isn't open, sit somewhere else. And they were out of both the things we were going to order, the hummus and the charcuterie board. The gin and the reserve bourbon were the best of the ones we had. The shmallow bourbon is not something to ever drink straight, same for the cherry liqueur, save yourself the trouble and get those in cocktails.
I came on a Tuesday night, and the atmosphere is lovely. Staff definitely enjoys their time working together and all have smiles on their faces. Tuesday was trivia night from 7-9pm and it was super fun (but hard haha)! I wasn't obsessed with my drink and it was like $12 tho. Food from other customers passed by my friend and I and we thought it looked really good and you got a lot!
Dropped by for a quick cocktail after dinner. I had the Blockbuster Raised Me, and the little lady had the Gertrude Berry More. Mine was frothy and light, with a touch of a citrusy tang. Hers was refreshing and fruity, without being cloyingly sweet. Both were artfully made and presented. I like this place, and would come back again. It missed my fifth star just because the bar had no other customers sitting there, but we were directed to the seats closest to a wall where there were a couple of sticky rings and a dirty towel on the bar. Not a deal breaker, but not the best seat at the bar, given the complete lack of competition. Not the best first impression, especially when it's not supremely busy.
