Also had the cheeses with the dessert wines matching. Really good. We also tasted the wines. Loved the Chardonnay and the petit Verdot. Very good selection and reasonably priced. Will definitely go again.
Went there today for the first time, have wanted to go for a long time and weren't disappointed. Food was great, wine was excellent. My only regret is that we weren't able to taste more of the wines.
We just went to Millbrook vineyard restaurant for Monday lunch. It was absolutely delightful and completely novel. There was no menu, chef just turned out a series of dishes which were in season and complemented each other. Fresh pea and cheese on wholemeal bread were followed by chicken pate and crisp crackers. Smoked local trout fillet with trout caviar was followed by rabbit and fresh truffle fricassee, you could tell the truffle was fresh by the fact that chef had a large truffle and slicer and put on generous slices at the table. The main course was pork chops with herbs and spices and a cream sauce. To wrap the meal up, he served creme brûlée with fresh orange sliced in it. Obviously, the menu would change with the season and availability of ingredients. All vegetables and salad ingredients were grown at the vineyard and I must admit to forgetting what the waitress told me when I ate a large piece of fresh green horseradish, but a good sip of their Grenache Sauvignon Malverde (I think I got that right) rectified my palate. There is a comprehensive wine list, and the cellar door is downstairs if you wish to purchase one of their quality wines. To conclude, I would recommend this to anyone. I have eaten all over the world and this must rate with the most memorable meals I have had the pleasure of eating.
We've been trying to get to this Winery for a year or so as friends highly recommended it. Mothers Day was fully booked so we opted for a Monday outing to experience the 'no waste' day. Five courses at a cost of $50 a head plus wine extra was very good value. We started with a tasting plate of nibbles, olives, soft curd cheese, finely sliced beef followed by a small serve of salt and pepper squid on a salsa sourced from the garden. Some braised rabbit pieces with a gorgeous fennel salad followed and a grilled cos lettuce with the Chef's take on a warm Caesar salad was served also. We were starting to blow out a bit at this stage but wait...there's more. Slow cooked brisket, spuds and some beans all cooked to perfection followed by a chocolate dessert with some cultured cream. Not sure about the cream on that dessert tho. We had a terrific day out with great food and a glass or two of wine. I recommend it to you.
The staff helped me surprise my partner on his 28th birthday. the were friendly, super accomodating and the food was amazing. the wines paired perfectly with our meals and they were more than happy to accomodate my vegetarian diet. will be back again. thank you for an unforgettable day.
