Tonkotsu broth was good and tasty but could have been milkier for my taste. Noodles were great. Wish more broth was given. Bean sprouts and scallion were mixed in with noodles so it was hard to enjoy just the noodle taste in every bite. Wish it was just dolloped on top so I can control how much of the toppings I wanted. Shrimp bao was good. Great clean spot for kids, large groups, or families.
Simple menu and quality ramen options. I have tried most of the items and they are all great taste like a fast, authentic flavors from Japan. Other than the ramen, Gyu don and Ankake Yaki are interesting and worth a try.TAKE OUT quick and excellent, clean and separated packaging. Have not tried, but dine in looks like a great environment.
4 years ago, I was really satisfied with their ramen at Fort Lee location. Today we’ve visited here in JC and really disappointed because the soup was not Japanese ramen anymore. Too sweet strange broth. And Tonkotsu doesn’t taste Tonkotsu at all. I won’t come back, never again.Im originally from Osaka Japan by the way
Very satisfying ramen made using store made noodles. Cost wise Menya Sandaime is pretty expensive, but it is definitely worth at least one visit. Location: Located across the street from Newport Center and minutes away from the Newport Path station, Menya Sandaime is centrally located and easy to access for people living in Jersey City or Newport. Food: I order the Tonkotsu ramen the Tonkotsu ramen came in a large bowl and contained the ramen, broth, a few pieces of chashu pork, the boiled egg and several pieces of spinach. Although not a traditional ramen ingredient, the spinach added a lot of color to the ramen and much needed vegetables to the dish. The tonkotsu ramen broth and noodles were both very satisfying. Overall, I thought the tonkotsu ramen was definitely better than what I would expect for a small, local ramen store, and it definitely rivals the flavors I have tasted at larger name brands, like Ippudo. Service: The service was good enough in my book, especially for a ramen restaurant. Cost: The ramen and a bottle of green tea came to around $20. Because of this, I must admit that Menya Sandaime is a little steep for your dollar. Verdict: Worth a visit for the ramen made with store made noodles.
So unfortunately I didn’t even get to taste the food this time. We originally ordered from them from Uber eats and it was great so we decided to stop in and try some ramen in person. The place was kinda empty so we were expecting reasonably fast service. While waiting for our order a huge rat ran into the kitchen and my wife told me and I looked up and saw it run by the cashier . The cashier ask my wife if she saw it too. I actually debated if I was going to still eat the food trying to convince myself it could have been a solitary incident. Fortunately the food took so long that my wife had plenty of time to think and say there’s no way I can eat here now.
