Billfish Poolside Grille - Kailua Kona

I enjoyed large frozen drinks by the pool with convenient access to the beach. I tried the chicken katsu sandwich, and it was fantastic!

My husband and I visited the courtyard and received a daily credit of $10 per person for food and drinks, along with a 15% discount at Billfish, thanks to our Platinum Elite membership. We also enjoyed complimentary welcome drinks at check-in. We tried the poke nachos and chicken nuggets, and we both liked our welcome drinks, which included an Ola seltzer and a Mai Tai. The food was delicious, and the portions were slightly larger than we expected, making it enough to satisfy our dinner cravings. The ambiance was lovely, enhanced by live music starting at 5:30 PM. However, I rated it one star less because the service was a bit slow.

I've stayed at this hotel five times, but this will be my last visit, primarily because of the unfriendly pool bar staff. I have a gold discount with Marriott, and when I asked the bartender to apply it to my bill, she bluntly told me that I should have mentioned it before ordering. When I asked if she wouldn’t apply it, she just took my bill and walked away, saying I would need to sign again. She tossed my new bill onto the bar in front of me and asked what I had said. I've never been spoken to in such a manner before! The bar had three bartenders working last night, and despite that, service was frustratingly slow. The food is good but quite expensive for what it is. If you’re looking for a pleasant experience, I would recommend avoiding this place.

Had a lot of expectation for this pool bar in the court Marriott, but the ahi poke nacho is a surprise!

Updated to 3 star ? we went back today and they were unable to make half their drinks due to ?not having a blender??!? How is this possible at a Tropical destination?! Chill little pool side spot connected to the Marriott on Kona. They have affordable drink prices and some decent food options (The Sweet potato fries were nice). The view of the water is beautiful. Night time is also worth the trip.
