Krua Thai Cuisine - Kailua-Kona

This restaurant had only two or three tables of customers during our late lunch, it was very quiet. The food was acceptable to very good for our party of four.

Food was good, worst service ever! Didn't clear appetizers or appetizer plates. Had to use same dirty plates for dinner which arrived about 45 minutes after we finished apps. Didn't refill water. Ordered dessert, never came. When we canceled dessert after 40 minutes (because we had been there for 2 1/2 hours already) they informed us they didn't have the dessert anyway. Had to go up and get our own to-go box after asking because they never brought it. We just wanted to leave. Very disappointing.

All the usual Thai suspects. Very well prepared. Prompt service. Oops! Apparently lost their liquor license. Bring your own. No corkage fee.

Based on the recommendation of a local resident, we visited Krua Thai for dinner on our second night in Kailua-Kona The food is very authentic Thai (my wife is Thai) and the service was very friendly. When on vacation, we make it a rule to visit a new resturant every night. We made an exception in this case, and returned for dinner again last night. Outstanding food, friendly service, nice location and great value.

We enjoyed our meal at Krua and went back a second time while we were on the Big Island. The food was delicious and the portions were good. Everything was fresh. I had the Garden Delight sauté both times, once with chicken and once with Mahi Mahi. Lots of fresh veggies and the meat was just right. The Mahi Mahi was so moist and delicious. The prices were reasonable. The decor is simple and unassuming. Definitely give this restaurant a try if you're looking for fresh, well-prepared food.
